Can You Handle Long Days?

    Friday January 23, 2009

If you want to work in a mining job in the mines, you need to be prepared for the possibility of extended shifts. Not only might you have to work a longer shift than you are used to in other jobs, if you have a mining job where they fly you in and out, you may also have limited free time while working in the mine.

Not everyone has a mindset suited to such conditions. It is therefore important that you are prepared for the possibility of quite a bit of mental fatigue while you work. If you are prone to stress, then you may need to look into coping strategies or else avoid a mining job.

Mining companies understand the pressure that a mining job can put a person under, however, and they will do what they can to make you comfortable. For instance, if you are working in heavy machinery, you can expect that it will be air conditioned. Mining may still have its problems, but it is certainly much safer and more comfortable than in previous times.
